GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Wofford women's golf team opened its spring slate of action in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, hosted by Mercer, over the last three days. The Terriers placed 12
th with a 929 score as
Lilli Horn led the way in 12
th with her 225 mark.
Wofford was 65 over par with a 929 score, carding rounds of 311-304-314. The Terriers tied for the fifth most birdies in the field with 23, and Wofford had the fifth-best par 3 score average at 3.24.
Western Kentucky won the event with a 20-over 884, besting second-place No. 26 Florida by six strokes in a stacked 15-team field.
Lilli Horn led the way for Wofford, tying for 12
th in the 85-player field. This is the junior's ninth-career top 20. Horn was 9-over par with her 225 score. After a 79 in round one, she bounced back to post a 72 in the second, and her 74 in round three moved her four spots up the leaderboard into 12
th. With a 2.91 par 3 average, Horn tied for the third-best mark in the tournament. Her 36 pars were the 10
th most in the event.
Charlotte Perkins of Florida Atlantic earned low medalist honors with her 217 score. She moved up two places on the final day to best Western Kentucky's Catie Craig by one stroke.
Bella Kent placed 50
th with a 234 score. Kent started strong with rounds of 76 and 73, but an 85 on the final day proved too tough to overcome.
Regina Parra was 56
th with a score of 236. She carded rounds of 79-80-77.
Maggie Jackson and
Taylor Burch round out the Terrier lineup in a tie for 70
th as each posted a score of 240. Jackson carded rounds of 81-80-79, and Burch scored 77-79-84.
Delaney Wade competed as an individual, placing 77
th with a 244. After an opening 90, she recovered well to shoot 79 and 75 over the final two days.
Wofford will return to action for a three-day event from March 4-6, competing in the Puerto Rico Shootout in Humacao, Puerto Rico. The event is hosted by Ball State.
