The Con Man
Freshman
Cullen Condon has burst onto the scene quickly to open his career. Condon was named the game two starter, making his debut almost immediately to start the season. Despite a tough first inning against Ohio, Condon settled in nicely afterward. The freshman posted a quality bounce-back outing against Army with a career-high 10 punchouts in 6.0 innings. With just one run allowed, he earned a quality start. Those 10 punchouts are tied for the most by a Terrier freshman in the program's Division I era. Overall on the season, Condon has a 4.50 ERA with a team-leading 14 strikeouts, which rank fifth in the SoCon. Those strikeouts are the most by a freshman in the SoCon and the seventh most by a freshman in the entire country. With a 12.60 strikeouts per nine innings clip, Condon is seventh the league. He is also third with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 7.00.
Â
Debuts and Firsts
Several Terriers have made their debuts and notched firsts so far this season. Offensively,
Harrison Campi leads the way after redshirting last year as a freshman. The sophomore has played in eight games and clubbed his first homer and tallied a walk-off hit.
Hunter Herndon, a transfer from Sewanee, hit his first long ball as a Terrier at Davidson.
Tyler Bak added his first-career homer in that Davidson game.
Lucas Grantham,
Tanner Hardin,
Cade Collins, and
Ben Timblin are all freshmen to have debuted and tallied their first collegiate hits. On the bump,
Cullen Condon has dazzled as a freshman, notching two starts with his first collegiate strikeouts.
Carter Rasmussen, a transfer from Brown, has shined out of the bullpen with 11 punchouts to rank second on the squad behind Condon's 14.
Austin Laughlin made his collegiate debut out of the bullpen against UNC Asheville and recorded the win with three punchouts.
Wes Estes struck out the side in his debut inning against Davidson.
Â
The Champ
Champ Davis has been a key piece of the Wofford bullpen since midway through last season. After dropping his arm slot to a sidearm delivery last year, Davis saw significant success to finish the season, and he has carried that momentum into this season. Davis has pitched four times this season and leads the team with a 0.79 ERA, fourth in the SoCon. He is second in the conference in appearances, 56th nationally. With two wins, he is tied for the SoCon lead, and he also owns a save. Opposing batters are hitting just .195 off Davis.
