Wofford hits the road for another SoCon series in North Carolina, this time traveling up the mountains to Cullowhee to face off against Western Carolina. The Terriers are 23-15 (2-7 SoCon) after besting USC Upstate 10-5 at home in midweek play after suffering a sweep on the road at UNCG over the weekend. The Catamounts are 17-19 (2-7 SoCon) after topping Presbyterian 9-7 in Clinton on Tuesday, but they fell in all three weekend affairs to ETSU on the road last weekend. The programs first met in 1950 and have faced off 112 times with WCU holding the all-time lead 78-33-1. The programs split four meetings last season with the Catamounts winning two-of-three in Spartanburg during the regular season, but the Terriers took the final meeting with a 12-1 win in the SoCon Tournament. The series is moved up one day from the usual Friday-Sunday slate, beginning on Thursday with this Sunday being Easter. The second game of the series will be aired regionally on The CW 62 with a special start time of 4:30 p.m.

About the Opponent: Western Carolina Catamounts
Western Carolina hits .303 as a team and excels at hitting doubles, notching 76 two-baggers to tie with Mercer for the league lead. Jack Spyke sports 12 of them to rank fourth in the conference. Overall, Brayden Corn paces the offense with a .331 batting average. Trent Turner touts seven long balls to top the team, adding a team-best slugging mark of .545. On the mound, the Catamounts have a team ERA of .748, eighth in the conference. Davis Wright's 4.11 mark is best on the team, and his 58 punchouts are most in the SoCon. He is tied with Owen Austin for the team lead in wins with three. Out of the bullpen, Brandon Langley leads the charge with six saves to lead the conference.

The Terriers swiped 147 bags last season, seventh nationally and second in the SoCon behind only VMI's 178. Wofford's 2.37 steals per game clip was 10th in the nation. With 55 sacrifices laid down, Wofford ranked fourth in the nation and was best in the conference. This season, the Terriers have put down 28 sacrifices and stolen 120 bases. The steals are good for third in the nation and second in the league. The Terriers trail just VMI in the conference with its national-best 187 swipes. Sixteen different Terriers have swiped a base thus far with 14 owning multiple and five boasting at least 10. Seven Terriers are perfect on steal attempts with at least four tries, and two of them have over 10 steals so far this season:

Kenny Michaels delivered a phenomenal freshman season last year, earning a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team. That has led to a Preseason All-SoCon First Team honor for the lefty entering this season. Last year, he tallied a 3-2 record with a pair of saves over 49.0 innings of work. Michaels appeared in 18 games with one start and posted a 4.78 ERA to earn a nod to the SoCon All-Freshman Team. He hit the zone well, notching 58 strikeouts to just 25 walks. In 2025, Michaels has picked up where he left off with 33.2 innings of work and just 17 runs allowed (15 earned). He's pitched 12 times with two starts, cracking into the starting rotation as of late. The lefty owns a 4.01 ERA. Michaels is 3-2 on the campaign, three wins shy of the conference leader. He touts 33 strikeouts to 17 walks.

Senior right-hander
Michael Sills is posting the best season of his career in his last, displaying the fruits of his hard work during his time at Wofford. In his first three seasons combined, Sills saw limited action with just 20.1 innings over 17 appearances, notching one win with 18 strikeouts. This season alone, Sills has made a single-season career-high 11 appearances with 26.1 innings of work. He boasts a 2-2 record with a pair of saves, which ties for the team lead and sixth in the SoCon. Sills has accrued 32 total punchouts. This includes two such instances of seven, his career best mark, which came against Davidson and Winthrop.

Wofford returns home for a midweek match-up against Queens University of Charlotte. Despite the close proximity of the two schools, the Terriers and Royals have never met on the baseball diamond. The contest is slated for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch at Russell C. King Field.
