Three Terriers Receive Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Postseason Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's Jack Burdell, Jack Deveney and Robbie Young were among those honored with 2025 Southern Conference men's tennis postseason awards on Wednesday, April 16. Postseason balloting was conducted by the league's eight head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.
 
Young received All-Southern Conference first team honors and the Don Bunch/Buddy Hartsell Sportsmanship Award. Jack Deveney was named to the All-SoCon second team, while the doubles pair of Deveney and Young was named All-SoCon first team. Burdell earned All-Freshman Team honors.  
 
Burdell, a freshman from Atlanta, Georgia, In doubles, he was 5-8 overall at the #3 position playing primarily with Daniel Clivio. Burdell is the 14th Terrier to earn All-Freshman Team honors and the first since the 2022 season.
 
Deveney, a sophomore from Bearsden, Scotland, was 8-8 on the season at the #2 singles position and 4-3 in SoCon matches. He was tied for the team lead in singles wins with eight. Deveney and Young were 11-5 overall at the #1 doubles positions, including a 6-1 mark in SoCon play. They are the only the second doubles pair in school history to earn first team honors, joining Rob Galloway and Walker Heffron in 2015.
 
Young, a senior from Greenville, South Carolina, was 7-11 overall this season in singles as he played the #1 position. In SoCon matches he was 3-4 with wins against The Citadel, UNCG, and Chattanooga. Young was named All-Southern Conference second team in 2024 and was a member of the SoCon All-Freshman team in 2022.  
 
Young was named the recipient of the Don Bunch/Buddy Hartsell Sportsmanship Award for the second time in his career (2023). It is just the fourth time a Terrier has received the award, along with Walker Heffron (2014) and Parks Schoen (2016).
 
The Terriers will open play at the 2025 Southern Conference Tournament on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Wofford, the #7 seed, will face the #2 seed Mercer.
