Wofford returns home this weekend for a three-game series against Mercer after a weekend off from SoCon play. The Terriers are 25-21 (3-9 SoCon) after losing four in a row to Big South opposition. Mercer is 30-17 (9-6 SoCon) and riding a five-game winning streak, most recently sweeping UNCG at home before claiming a road midweek win at Georgia State. In a series that dates back to 1908, the teams have met 51 total times. The Bears hold a 30-21 lead in the series. The teams split a pair of contests in Macon last season in a series affected by weather. Wofford took the first game in 12 innings, 6-4. The series was set to conclude with a doubleheader, and Mercer won the first of the slate before rain washed out the would-be series finale.

Scouting the Opponent: Mercer Bears
Mercer is currently second in the SoCon standings and hits .277 as a team. With 66 home runs, the Bears are second in the conference and 35
th in the nation. Ty Dalley is the home run leader on the team with 16, ranking fourth in the SoCon. Bradley Frye's .354 average tops the team with his 70 hits most in the conference. One of the best pitching teams in the league, Mercer ranks second in the SoCon with a team ERA of 4.63. Colton Cosper's 3.52 ERA leads the way and ranks fourth in the conference. Jess Ackerman is the team's best strikeout artist with 61, sixth in the league. Terry Busse serves as the Mercer closer with a team-best seven saves, one short of the conference lead.

Double Trouble
The Terrier offense has thrived at hitting doubles this season. Of Wofford's 420 total base hits, 85 have gone for two bases to rank fourth in the SoCon. This means 20.2 percent of Wofford's total hits have been doubles.
Tyler Hare and
Ryan Wynn lead the team with 15 two-baggers each, tying for second in the league. They are just two doubles behind conference-leader Jack Spyke of Western Carolina with his 16 doubles. Wofford is one of just two teams to boast a pair of players in the top five of the conference for doubles, joining Mercer. Ty Dalley and Bradley Frye of the Bears also rank in the top five. Hare's propensity for the double has been exceptional this season, as 15 of his 35 total base knocks have been doubles, which comes out to 42.9 percent of his hits going for two. With 63 total bases coming out of his 35 hits, Hare averages 1.8 total bases per base hit to indicate that when he gets a hit, it's most likely to be a double.

A Hard(in) One to Get Out
Terrier freshman
Tanner Hardin has made his presence felt early in his career, assuming the every day second base duties. In 39 games of action with 31 starts, Hardin is hitting .356, the best non-qualified average on the squad with a minimum of 20 games played. Hardin touts 36 total hits with three doubles, 21 RBI, and 15 runs. On the bases, he is a perfect 13-for-13 on steals. In his first taste of SoCon action, the youngster has been undeterred, posting a team-high .385 batting average through Wofford's 12 league games. He has recorded 15 hits with both of his doubles coming in league play. In conference games, Hardin touts an on-base clip of .415 with a slugging mark of .436. He adds seven RBI with five runs scored and a pair of walks.

He's a Wynn-er
Sophomore shortstop
Ryan Wynn is enjoying a breakout second year with Wofford after seeing limited playing time in his freshman campaign. Last season, Wynn played in just 19 games and amassed only five hits in 19 at-bats. This season, Wynn is the only Terrier to start every single game, starting all 46 contests at shortstop. He is hitting .323 to rank second on the squad while adding a .489 slugging mark and .410 on-base clip. Wynn totals 60 hits to lead the team with 15 doubles, two triples, and four home runs. He adds 35 RBI, 42 runs, and 14 steals. Wynn's total hits are sixth in the conference, and his 15 doubles are tied for second in the league. In game three of the campaign against Ohio, Wynn hit for the cycle as just the third Terrier to ever accomplish the feat. His fifth-inning homer to complete the cycle was the first long ball of his career. Wynn has been named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List as one of the best 100 shortstops in college baseball.
