SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford women's soccer head coach Kevin Dempsey has announced the addition of eight players for the 2025 season. Sidney Kitts, Emma Valdes, Julia Grier, Emerson Batson, Tori Botthof, Emme Curran, Patty Staton, and Shea Stanley round out the eight new Terriers. These new student-athletes have signed aid agreements or letters of commitment to join the program.
"We are thrilled to welcome these eight talented student athletes to our program," said head coach Kevin Dempsey. "They will certainly contribute to our growth and success for years to come."
Sidney Kitts, a four-year letterman out of Lexington, South Carolina, has helped lead Lexington High School to three-straight playoff appearances, along with earning an All-Region selection. Kitts has totaled 21 goals and 24 assists throughout her career, including 10 goals and 15 assists in her junior season. She has been both the captain of the high school team and her club team, South Carolina United, where she was awarded the Coaches Award.
Emma Valdes, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, helped lead AC Flora High School to three-straight region championships while earning All-Region in those same years. She was named All-State and All-Area in 2024 after being named the team defensive player of the year in 2022 and 2023. The defender has totaled 21 goals and 20 assists throughout her career. Valdes has played for the South Carolina United 2007 ECNL Club as well.
Julia Grier, the sister of current Terrier
Mary Liese Grier, is a four-year letterwinner at South Mecklenburg High School located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The defender has earned All-Conference, All-Region and All-State honors, while being named team captain and Attacking MVP. Grier has also played for the Charlotte Independence Soccer Club. She was honored with ECNL Mid-Atlantic All-Conference U17, Capelli Sport Denmark Cup North America Team and the CISC Leadership Award U17 while also serving as the team captain.
A midfielder out of Clover High School in South Carolina, Emerson Batson was an All-Region and All-Area selection. She has played for the Charlotte Soccer Academy where she won the Carolinas Conference Championship. Off the pitch, Batson is currently serving as the senior class president and resides in the top 10 of her class academically.
Tori Botthof, an outside back from John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Alabama, is a four-year letterman and has helped lead the team to the playoffs three-straight years. Botthof has totaled 30 goals over the last two seasons, including 21 in her junior year alone, on her way to an All-Metro First Team selection. She has also played for Alabama FC ECNL.
Emme Curran, a forward out of Holly Springs, North Carolina, has led her team to three-straight SWAC Conference Championships as a team captain. A three-year letterwinner at Holly Springs High School, she has totaled 41 goals and 21 assists throughout her career while receiving three Offensive MVP awards and All-Conference honors. Curran has played her club ball for Jordan Lake Futbol Club where she also served as the team captain and led the team in goals. She was selected by the ISL to train and compete in Barcelona as well as playing a series of games in England and Ireland.
Patty Staton is a native of The Woodlands, Texas, where she is a four-year letterwinner at The Woodlands High School, along with an All-District Second Team selection. She helped lead the team to a fourth-round playoff appearance. The goalkeeper has played for the HTX club out of Georgia, leading her team to a third-place finish in the Champions League Cup.
A defender from Matthews, North Carolina, Shea Stanley has helped lead Covenant Day School to back-to-back state semifinal appearances, including a 2023 Team of the Year selection. She has been a two-time All-Conference selection, while also playing for the Charlotte Independence Club.
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Wofford College and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
