Taylor Liguori Promoted to Associate Head Coach

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College softball head coach Chelsea Butler has announced that Taylor Liguori has been promoted to associate head coach. Liguori is entering her third year with the program after joining in the summer of 2023.

"Having the opportunity to promote Taylor to associate head coach is so special for me and for this program," said head coach Chelsea Butler. "Taylor has been instrumental in our growth and success on and off the field during our first two seasons of competition. She continues to better herself and our softball program every single day. Taylor is loved and respected by our players, and she will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on Wofford Softball for years to come. Taylor is someone every head coach wants by their side in the dugout and is more than deserving of this promotion!"

This past season, Liguori helped guide the team to a program-best 30-22 record and an 11-8 mark in Southern Conference action, resulting in the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament. Liguori aided in an All-SoCon First Team selection for both Margaret Axelson and Hope Ingle, as well as a second team selection for Abby Greenwood. Brianna Stanley, Rivers Sampson and Natalya Salo earned SoCon All-Freshman Team honors.

In her first season with the Terriers, Liguori helped the team finish with an 11-10 record in conference play in what was Wofford's inaugural season. The Terriers claimed a SoCon Tournament win over ETSU after entering the tournament as the No. 5 seed. Margaret Axelson was named All-SoCon First Team, while Abby Greenwood, Kaytlin Greenwood and Megan Towery were honored on the SoCon All-Freshman Team.

Prior to Wofford, Liguori spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Birmingham Thunderbolts, earning the 2022 18U PGF National Championship along with the NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year Award.

Liguori played four seasons at the University of Maryland, appearing in 136 games with 90 starts. She posted a .327 on-base percentage and a .967 fielding percentage. Liguori was a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and was named a Big Ten Scholar-Athlete three times.

Wofford softball will open the 2026 season at home against Kent State on February 6 in the third-annual Terrier Invite. The team is fresh off a program-record 30 wins in 2025.
