SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford softball team earned a pair of five-inning wins on Friday afternoon, defeating Morgan State 12-4 and Robert Morris 15-7. The Terriers improve to 11-1, including nine wins in a row.

Brianna Stanley totaled three homeruns and seven RBI on the day, including two homers against Robert Morris. She is the first Terrier in program history to hit multiple homeruns in a single game. The 15 runs against Robert Morris were the second most in program history.

GAME ONE
Sydney Baker got her first start of the season in game one against Morgan State, earning her first win of the season (1-0). Baker went 4.1 innings with two earned runs and two strikeouts. Leading the way offensively was
Brianna Stanley after going 2-of-3 from the plate with a homer, a double, and three RBI.
Kate Platte followed behind with two hits, two runs scored, and two RBI.
Rivers Sampson,
Kaytlin Greenwood, and
Lucy Cameron each tallied an RBI as well.
Kaytlin Greenwood led the team with two stolen bases.

Morgan State scored the first run of the game as the team took an early 1-0 lead.
Rivers Sampson was able to tie it at one-all in the bottom of the first after a sacrifice fly scored
Desirae Devine. Wofford kept Morgan State scoreless in the second.
Kaytlin Greenwood kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the second with an RBI double to score
Lauren Archambault. Greenwood would later score on a throwing error from the Morgan State catcher. In the third inning,
Brianna Stanley hit a homerun to center field to score Devine once more and give Wofford a 5-1 lead. Another Morgan State error scored Archambault.
Lucy Cameron closed out the four-run inning with a sacrifice fly to drive in
Gracie Parker.

Morgan State added two runs in the fourth inning, but a
Brianna Stanley double to right center scored
Kate Platte and gave Wofford an 8-3 advantage in the fourth inning. Morgan State scored its final run of the game in the fifth inning, as Wofford managed to put up four runs in the bottom of the stanza to run rule the Lady Bears 12-4.
Kate Platte tallied a two RBI single, which was followed by two runs scoring from another Morgan State error.

GAME TWO
Margaret Axelson got the start in game two against Robert Morris, recording her fourth win of the season to move her record up to 4-0. The senior pitcher threw three innings with two strikeouts.
Natalya Salo closed the final two innings.
Brianna Stanley led the offensive charge again, going 2-of-3 from the plate with two homeruns and four RBI.
Kate Platte,
Rivers Sampson,
Kaytlin Greenwood, and
Gracie Parker each recorded two RBI.
Kalli Petty finished the night with one. Sampson added three hits and two runs scored.
Gracie Parker led the team with two stolen bases.

Brianna Stanley kicked off the first inning with a two-run shot to center field, giving Wofford a 2-0 lead heading into the second frame. Robert Morris added a run in the top of the second, but
Kate Platte answered with an RBI to give the Terriers a 3-1 lead. Four runs in the top of the third put Robert Morris up 5-3. The offense answered, however, scoring eight runs in the third inning – the second most in one inning in program history.
Rivers Sampson started the scoring with an RBI double to score
Kalli Petty.
Gracie Parker followed that up with a two RBI single to drive in
Desirae Devine and
Rivers Sampson.
Kaytlin Greenwood found home after a wild pitch, and
Kate Platte would later score Parker from a single up the middle.
Brianna Stanley capped the inning with a two-run homer to right center as Wofford took an 11-5 lead.

Robert Morris was able to grab two runs in the fifth, shortening the Wofford lead to 11-7. In the bottom of the fifth inning,
Kalli Petty scored
Sydney Baker to start things off. A Robert Morris error would later score
Lauren Archambault.
Kaytlin Greenwood ended the game with a double to score
Rivers Sampson and
Madison Thieke, giving Wofford a 15-7 run rule win.

The Terriers will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the Sparkle City Invite. The team will take on Holy Cross at 1:30 p.m. before a matchup with Harvard at 4:00 p.m.
