SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's Patrick Green II and Sherika Christie have been selected as the men's and women's indoor field athletes of the week, respectively. Additionally, Furman's Brayden Seymour and Samford's Aaliyah Mbenda have been named the men's and women's indoor track athletes of the week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
 
Selections were made by panels of the league's track and field coaches and included all competition from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3.   
 
Christie competed at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville. The junior from St. Catherine, Jamaica, won the B Division of the pentathlon with a score of 3,714, as she was first in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump. The 3,714 points marked a personal best in the event and is the best mark in the SoCon this season. This is the fifth SoCon weekly award in Christie's career.
 
Green, a junior from Beech Island, S.C., competed at the Tryon Banked Collegiate Invitational on Friday. He went 14.96 meters in the triple jump to finish second overall and set a new school record, eclipsing the mark of 14.93 set in 2002 by Adrien Borders. The mark is the best in the SoCon this season. This is his first career weekly award.
 
The Terriers will compete next at the VMI Winter Classic on February 6 and 7. The Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship will be held in Lexington, Va., on February 27 and 28.
