MILL SPRING, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Friday and Saturday at the Tryon Winter Classic, held at the Tryon International Indoor Complex. The Terriers had two wins by
JaKayla Campbell, along with one each by
Zion Bennett,
Patrick Green II,
Joey Swick, and the men's 4x400 relay team.
On Friday,
Isabelle DuChemin was fourth overall in the pentathlon with 3,143 points. She was first in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.19 and fourth in the shot put at 10.39 meters.
Irene Pardo was eighth overall with 2,821 points, as she was fourth in the long jump at 5.26 meters.
Olivia Burroughs was second in the pole vault, clearing 3.45 meters. In the women's high jump,
Olivia Bagg was third at 1.63 meters, while
Ne'Rya Vassell and
Ava Cooper tied for eighth at 1.48 meters.
Liam Jones was the lone Terrier to compete in a running event on Friday, taking fourth place in the 1,000 meters in 2:30.8.
In the Saturday field events,
Ellie Sawicki was seventh in the weight throw at 14.69 meters.
Zico Bennett took second place in the long jump with a mark of 7.21 meters which set a new school record, while
Patrick Green II was tenth at 6.70 meters, a personal best. In the women's long jump,
Olivia Bagg was second at 5.49 meters and
Ava Cooper was fifth at 5.35 meters.
Patrick Green II won the triple jump in 14.56 meters for the men. In the women's triple jump
Ava Cooper was second at 12.19 meters for a personal best and
Andrea Landrum was ninth in 11.31 meters. The women's shot put saw
Ellie Sawicki finish third at 12.40 meters and freshman
Maggie Frana fourth at 12.24 meters.
Joey Swick earned a win in the men's pole vault at 4.50 meters, which was a personal best and tied the school record.
Andrew Botros was ninth at 3.75 meters.
The running events on Saturday began with the 60-meter hurdles and
JaKayla Campbell took first place in a personal best time of 8.59.
Olivia Bagg added a seventh place in the event at 9.16. Freshman
Emma Mills was second in the 60 meters at 7.67.
Andrew York set a personal best in the mile at 4:25.70 to finish 12
th.
JaKayla Campbell was also first place in the 60-meter hurdles in a personal best 8.59, while
Olivia Bagg was seventh at 9.16.
In the men's 400 meters,
Zion Bennett took first place in 48.57 and
Thomas Stamper was 11
th in 50.41. For the women in the event,
Taylor Jennings-Ward was third at 57.83,
Monic Green was eighth at 58.74, and freshman
Sofia LaCorte was tenth at 59.42.
Liam Jones was third in the men's 800 meters in 1:55.72. In the women's 800 meters, freshman
Ava Dennis was second in 2:22.20. freshman
Sarah Turner was sixth in 2:25.01, and
Kristen Hallman was eighth in 2:25.66.
JaKayla Campbell added a sixth place in the 200 meters at 25.68, with
Emma Mills ninth at 25.77. To close out the meet, the men's 4x400 relay team was first in 3:22.15 and the women's team was second in 4:02.05.
The Terriers will return to Mill Spring, N.C., on January 30 for the Tryon Banked Invitational.
