BOONE, N.C. -- Sophomore Katie McChesney registered nine saves and held host Appalachian State off the scoreboard as the Wofford women's soccer team posted a 0-0 double overtime tie against the Mountaineers Sunday afternoon at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex in Boone, N.C.
McChesney played all 110 minutes in net for the Terriers and faced 20 shots in all, including a game-high seven by Caroline Lowe.
Wofford (1-7-4, 0-3-1 SoCon) was led by freshman Maggie McLaughlin, who put three attempts towards the ASU net. Caroline Clarke collected six saves in between the pipes for Appalachian State (5-4-2, 1-2-1 SoCon).
Fellow Terrier rookie Sydney Reed had two shots, while Amy Zahirski and Casey Cleary each had four for the Mountaineers.
Wofford had put a ball in the back of the net with six minutes remaining in the first half, but the score was called back after a player was whistled for offsides.
The Terriers will resume Southern Conference action with a 7 p.m. Friday match at Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tenn.
