SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its weekly women's soccer awards today, and Wofford's Annie Andrews and Layla Washington were tabbed as the offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively. The selections are made by the league office.
This is the first time in program history that Wofford has had two players selected in the same week. This is the second Wofford program this week to sweep awards, with Chloe Smith and Laney Kilka also receiving Player of the Week awards for Volleyball.
Annie Andrews, a junior forward from Columbia, South Carolina, collected one goal and two assists in shutout win against Winthrop last Thursday. Andrews leads the team with nine points on three goals and three assists.
Layla Washington, a freshman defender from Buford, Georgia, grabbed her first collegiate goal against Winthrop. Washington has started all seven matches for the Terriers and has defended the backline for a 1.26 goals against average.
The Terriers begin conference play against Furman on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Greenville, S.C. Wofford will return home to face ETSU on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m.
