Men’s tennis drops road match at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Wofford men’s tennis team battled but fell 4-3 to Southern Conference opponent Chattanooga Tuesday afternoon in Chattanooga, Tenn.

In singles action, junior Scott Collins captured a 6-4, 6-5 victory against Pavel Vostikov at the No. 4 position.

At the No. 5 slot, freshman Paul Bartholomy extended his conference win record to 6-0 with a victory over Hasan Hamadeh 6-1, 6-0.

Playing at the No. 6 slot, sophomore Christopher Williams snapped a six match losing streak with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-3 victory over Robert Diamond.

Although the Mocs clinched the doubles point with wins in two of three matches, the Terriers registered a 9-7 victory at the No. 1 spot by the duo of senior Andrew Stubbs and sophomore George Kernodle against Badr Bouabdellah and Razvan Axente.

“I think both teams knew it was going to be a battle today and it was,” said head coach Rod Ray. “Chattanooga gave a great effort and they came ready to play. Chattanooga deserved to win today.”

Wofford will travel to Greensboro, N.C., Sunday for a noon matchup against SoCon foe UNC Greensboro.
