Yellow Jackets top Terriers in Men’s Tennis

Atlanta, Ga. -The Wofford men’s tennis team competed against their second nationally ranked opponent of the young season. The Terries fell to the #43 ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Wednesday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the campus of Georgia Tech University.
Georgia Tech won the match by a score of 6-1. The win improves the Yellow Jackets record to 4-0 on the season, with the loss Wofford drops to 0-2 on the season.
The Terriers fell behind early losing in doubles, two matches to one giving the Yellow Jackets a one point advantage going into the singles matches. Sophmore Stuart Robertson and freshman Tom Wood teamed up to defeat Ryan Smith and Dusan Miljevich of Georgia Tech by a score of eight games to six.
In singles action the Terriers lone victory came at number three singles where junior Alan Donald was victorious over Juan Spir of Georgia Tech. Donald won the match by a score of 6-2, 6-3.
After the match head coach Rod Ray said “Although we lost the match, we are taking a lot of positives from the experience. Today’s effort definitely made us better”
The Terries will return to action on Wednesday, February 3rd for their home opener versus the Presbyterian Blue Hose at the Reeves Tennis Center at 3:00 p.m.
