Wofford Tennis Results
SPARTUNBURG, S.C.- The Wofford men’s tennis program hosted a local tennis tournament this weekend under Coach Rod Ray’s direction. The tournament included four total teams from around the Upstate and North Carolina area, including: Wofford College, Presbyterian College, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and Furman University. The tournament was played at the Reeves Tennis Center.
Individually, Coach Ray’s team boasted tremendous results throughout the tennis tournament. Collectively the team grabbed a 29-6 record against athletes from the visiting schools in doubles and singles play. In doubles play, the Terriers tallied a 10-2 record, and posted a 19-4 record throughout singles play.
Tinus Van Wyk and Stuart Robertson worked as a pair in the doubles portion and beat teams from all three visiting school, going 3-0. The pair only lost a total of four sets in the three matches. Jack Seiffert showcased strong play in doubles, playing with Joey Francis and Drew Superstein and winning all three of his matches played. Randall Heffron also played with multiple partners in the tournament, combining with Tom Wood and Superstein to go 2-1 on the weekend in doubles.
Van Wyk had a perfect record in singles, going 3-0 versus opposition from all three visiting teams. Superstein was flawless in singles play, winning every match he played, going 3-0. Seniors Michael Schecter and Paul Bartholomy each won all of their singles matches, playing two apiece against competition from Presbyterian College and Furman University.
Wofford will return to action soon, as they are hosting another tournament this upcoming weekend, October 8-9th at the Reeves Tennis Center.
