Terriers Slip to 11th in Final Round of Hummingbird Intercollegiate
SAPPHIRE, N.C. -- The Wofford College men’s golf team fell from second to eleventh in the final round of The Hummingbird Intercollegiate on the par-71 6,767 yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
After the opening round, The Terriers sat in second play with a one-under, 283, and trailed leader Vanderbilt, who shot a 277. In round two, Wofford shot a team score of 303 to fall to 11th with an overall score of 584 for +11.
Individually, Mark Joye led the Terriers with rounds of 71 and 73 for a 144 (+2). Brent Whitehead followed with a 71 and a 75 for a 146, while Chandler Brazeal, who shot an opening round 68, posted a score of 79 in the final round for a 147. Zach Capps completed the Terrier scorers with rounds of 73 and 76 for a total of 149.
The Hummingbird Intercollegiate was the Terriers final tournament of their fall season. They will tee off again in the spring with the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on February 21 through February 22.
