Final Results
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Wofford men’s golf team earned a fourth place finish in its first tournament of the 2010 season, the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, hosted by Francis Marion University.
After shooting a first round 297, the team improved its score on Tuesday and recorded a team score of 295 for a 592 tournament total. The tournament was shortened from three rounds to two due to inclement weather along the South Carolina coast Monday.
Freshman Mark Joye led the Terriers, following a day-one score of 71 with a day-two par 72. His tournament score of 143 tied for third individually. Senior Garrett Medeiros tied for seventeenth with a score of 148.
Senior Mike McKenzie improved his round one score by four shots on Tuesday, recording a 73 in the second round and finishing tied for 25th. Sophomore Zach Capps tied for 33rd with a tournament total score of 151.
With a team score of 592, the Terriers finished ahead of Southern Conference opponents Samford, Western Carolina and Elon.
The Terriers will next compete at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, March 7-9 in Aiken, S.C.
