GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford men’s golf team competed at the Furman Intercollegiate, finishing tied for eighth in the 24-team field.
The team was led by freshman Mark Joye, who turned in his third team-leading performance of the spring season, finishing tied for eighth individually with a four-over par score of 220. Joye recorded a low score of 70 in the second round on Saturday.
Senior Kirk Whitehead carded a 228 (73-79-76) in the three-round tournament and senior Mike McKenzie recorded a score of 231 (77-76-78).
Sophomores Zach Capps and Ben Wright finished the tournament tied with scores of 235. The Terriers finished tied for eighth in the 24-team field with a team score of 907 (305-295-307). Wofford finished ahead of Southern Conference rivals Samford, Elon, Davidson and Appalachian State.
The Clemson men’s golf team claimed the team title with a one-over par score of 865 (289-294-282). Chattanooga’s Steven Fox drained a birdie putt on his final hole to share individual medalist honors with the Tigers’ Ben Martin at six-under par.
The Terriers will compete again at the River Landing Intercollegiate, April 2-3 in Wallace, N.C.
