SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU lead wire to wire to claim the 22nd annual Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational title, hosted by Wofford College at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

The Buccaneers recorded a team score of 847 over three rounds of play, using the strength of a 277 score in the second round to finish at 17 under par.

Michael Stewart of ETSU took the individual title with a seven-under par performance. Stewart recorded 16 birdies and a tournament-low score of 66 in the second round to finish with a score of 209 (72-66-71). Fellow Buccaneer Seamus Power tied for second place with a score of 210, matching the performance of Charleston Southern’s Jacobo Pastor to finish six under.

Tournament host Wofford claimed third with a team score of 863 (287-287-289), finishing one under par.

Freshman Mark Joye led the Terriers, tying for fourth individually and carding a five-under 211 (71-70-70) for his best performance of the spring season. Senior Garrett Medeiros tied for 18th with a score of 218 (70-75-73) and sophomore Zach Capps carded a three-round score of 219 (75-71-73) to tie for 21st place individually.

Freshman Charles Moore also finished in the top 25 playing as an individual with a score of 220 (76-70-74). Senior Mike McKenzie turned in a score of 221 for the Terriers and sophomore Ben Wright finished the tournament with a score of 228. Senior Kirk Whitehead, also playing as an individual, tied for 29th and carded a 221 over three rounds.

The Terriers will take the course again April 18-20 at the 2010 Southern Conference Championship in Florence, S.C.
