Mt. Pleasant, S.C. - The Wofford men’s tennis team was defeated by Southern Conference rival and the #75 nationally ranked College of Charleston Cougars by a score of 7-0 on Friday afternoon. The loss puts the Terriers record at 7-10 on the year and 3-4 in the Southern Conference. College of Charleston improves to 14-3 on the year and 8-0 in the Southern Conference.
The Cougars took an early lead in the contest by winning all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 advantage into singles play. The Cougars swept the singles matches on their way to a 7-0 victory.
Wofford was led by Michael Schecter who was defeated by Kyle Parker in a tough three set match at number five singles. Schecter won the first set 7-5 but lost the second 3-6. The final set was decided over a ten point tie break which Parker won 10-5.
The Terriers will be back in action on Sunday April, 11 when they will host Elon at 1:00 in a Southern Conference matchup at the Reeves Tennis Center on the Wofford College campus.
