CHARLESTON, S.C. – The men’s tennis team traveled to the College of Charleston Saturday afternoon to face the Cougars in Patriots Point Tennis Center. Charleston swept the Terriers, defeating Wofford 7-0 in the fourth conference match of the season for Coach Rod Ray’s program.
Wofford draws even in the Southern Conference with a 2-2 record and drops to a 6-8 overall record. The Cougars grab their fifth win in a row with the victory and keep a clean slate in the SoCon, going 3-0. Charleston tallies a 9-4 overall record on the season.
Paul Bartholomy earned his first singles start since playing in the Winthrop match January 29th. The senior captain had been forced to sit out for nearly two months with a prolonged injury. Coach Ray began working him back into the line-up with doubles starts in the last two matches against Army and Georgia Southern. Bartholomy got the starting nod at the No. 6 spot, but was beaten by CoC’s Stephen Hardy.
The Cougars pushed for the 7-0 win after being able to win the remainder of the singles matches and posting the early doubles point with victories in each doubles match.
The Terriers have their next match tomorrow (3/27) at home against Davidson. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Reeves Tennis Center.
