Terriers Open Spring with 8th Place Finish at Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate

Final Results

AIKEN, S.C. -- The Wofford College men’s golf team finished their opening spring tournament in 8th place with a 883 on the par-70 6,617 yard Palmetto Golf Club in the two-day three-round 14th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.

The Terriers (292, 290 and 301) finished 34 strokes behind tournament winner Alabama (849).  Wofford did finish ahead of SoCon opponents Georgia Southern (893), Furman (900) and the College of Charleston (900).

Wofford was led by Chandler Brazeal, who fired a three round score of 214 with scores of 70 and 70 in day one and 74 in the final round.  Brazeal finished tied for 11th, 15 strokes behind tournament winner Bud Cauley, who shot a 201 (66, 66 and 69) from Alabama.  Cauley’s 201 was a new tournament record.

Zach Capps followed with with a 76, 72 and a 76 for a 224, while Charles Moore shot a 70, 76 and 76 for a 224 for the Terriers.  Mark Joye added a 76 in round one and a 73 in round three towards the Terriers overall score.  He also shot a 77 in round two to finish with a 226.  Brent Whitehead contributed with his second round score of 74.  He shot a 79 in round one and a 78 in round two for a 231 final.

Wofford participate in the Furman Intercollegiate on March 18 through March 20 for their next tournament.
