HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Led by Alex Rankin, who finished tied for sixth with a 231 and earned All-Southern Conference, the Wofford College women’s golf team wrapped up their season with an eighth place finish at the Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship with a 975 over the par 72, 6,005-yard Moss Creek Golf Club’s North Course.
Rankin, 79-75-77--231 (+15), was the only Terrier in the top 20. She finished 12 strokes off of tournament winner, Emma de Groot from Chattanooga who shot a 74-71-74--219 (+3).
Trailing Rankin for the Terriers was Anne Marie Covar, who earned All-Freshman Team and SoCon Freshman of the Year, shot a 85-88-78--251, and Sarah Hurt who fired a 81-83-89--253. Meredith Few, 93-80-81--254, and Tarah Taylor, 87-88-81--256 rounded out the Terrier scorers for the championship.
Wofford finish in eighth with a 975. They posted scores of 332, 326 and 317 over the three days on the course. Chattanooga took the top team spot with a 303-305-292--900, while College of Charleston finished in second with a 313-312-305--930. Furman rounded out the top three with a 320-311-303--934, and Western Carolina (323-322-302--936) and Elon (320-319-309--949) completed the top five. UNC Greensboro (311-319-326--956), Samford (323-325-319--967), Wofford (332-326-317--975), App State (331-319-329--979), and The Citadel (346-351-352--1049) wrapped up the field.
