Men’s Tennis Falls at UNC Asheville, 6-1, Sunday Afternoon

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Wofford College men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision Sunday afternoon to UNC Asheville at the Asheville Racquet Club.

With the loss, the Terriers drop to 1-4 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 3-3 overall.

The afternoon began with doubles play, where the pairing of Tom Wood and Drew Superstein downed Pete Conaty and John Schubel (8-5) at the No. 3 position, yet Asheville took the remaining two matches to seize the doubles point and hold the early 1-0 advantage.

In singles action, Walker Heffron defeated Pete Conaty in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) at the No. 6 position, but that would be the only singles win for the Terriers, as the Bulldogs won the remaining five matches to seal the overall victory.

Wofford returns to the courts Tuesday afternoon as they travel to take on Charlotte.  The match is set for a start time of 2:30 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
