CONWAY, S.C. – The Wofford College women’s tennis team fell to Coastal Carolina by a 5-2 score Sunday afternoon at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Terriers drop to 3-4 overall, while the Chanticleers improve to 5-0 on the season.
Coastal Carolina earned an early 1-0 advantage, sweeping through doubles play to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, Guinn Garcia fell behind early, but battled back to defeat Katie Fosnacht (1-6, 6-1, 7-6(6)) at the No. 4 position, and Othilia Lindqvist downed Kourtney Kowal (7-6(3), 6-3) at the No. 5 position to give Wofford two singles victories. Coastal Carolina took the remaining four matches to seal the overall match victory.
The Terriers return to action Thursday afternoon, hosting Charlotte at 2:00 p.m. at the Reeves Tennis Center.
