SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Elon Sunday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Terriers fall to 4-10 on the season and 3-4 in SoCon action. The Phoenix improve to 8-11 overall, 5-3 in league play.
In doubles play, the team of Stuart Robertson and Tom Wood defeated Christopher Geaslen and Andrew Prince (8-1) at the No. 2 position, yet Elon took the remaining two matches to earn the doubles point and the advantage headed into singles play.
Walker Heffron won his fifth consecutive singles match, defeating Juan Madrid (6-2, 6-3) at the No. 5 position. The Phoenix took the remaining five singles matches to seal the overall win.
Prior to the start of today’s match, seniors Stuart Robertson and Tinus Van Wyk were honored for their contributions to the Wofford men’s tennis program throughout the past four years.
The Terriers will return to action Wednesday afternoon at Appalachian State. The match is set for a 2:30 p.m. start time in Boone, N.C.
