MORGANTON, N.C. – Elizabeth Thompson shot a career-low 36-hole score to finish tied for second as the Wofford women's golf team took third at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate at the par-70, 6,010 yard Mimosa Hill Golf Course.
Wofford shot a team score of 394 after the first round and answered with a 387 in the final round for a 36-hole score of 781. The tournament features a unique play six score five players compared to most tournament’s play five score four format.
Western Carolina lead the field with a score of 764, while host App State followed with 780, just one stroke ahead of the Terriers.
Thompson career-low round of 149 came after rounds of 76 and a career-low 18-hole round of 73. Anne Marie Covar followed with a 78-74--152 in a tie for fifth, while Alex Hendricks shot two rounds of 77 for a 154 for a tie for ninth. Sarah Hurt carded an 82-77--159, while Lauren Dunbar shot an 81-86--167. Tarah Taylor entered the clubhouse with an 86-93--179.
The Terriers will take a week off before they travel down to Hilton Head, S.C. for the Southern Conference Championship on April 15 through April 17.
