SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Appalachian State at the Reeves Tennis Center Monday afternoon.
With the loss, the Terriers fall to 5-13 overall and 1-7 in SoCon play. The Mountaineers improve to 12-9 overall and 5-5 in league action.
Doubles play kicked off the afternoon’s match, with the pairing of Julia Paulson and Emily Przystawski defeating Gisela Fernandez and Gabriela Celi (8-4) at the No. 2 position, yet Appalachian State took the remaining two matches to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, Audrey Coventry defeated Gabriela Celi (7-6(5), 6-2) at the No. 3 position, yet the Mountaineers took the remaining five matches to earn the overall match victory.
Wofford returns to action Wednesday afternoon, hosting Davidson. The match is set for a start time of 3:00 p.m. at the Reeves Tennis Center.
