SoCon Tournament Bracket
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The sixth-seeded Wofford women's soccer team prepares to take on the number two seeded Elon University Friday, November 8 in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament hosted by Wofford College. The match will kick off on Snyder Field at 7:30 p.m.
In the first round on Sunday, November 3, Wofford faced UNCG and advanced in penalty kicks winning the shootout 5-4 after a 0-0 tie in regulation. The Terriers finished the regular season sixth place in the SoCon with a conference record of 4-2-4 and 8-4-5 overall on the season. Elon defeated number seven seed Davidson 3-1 on Sunday to advance to the semifinals. The Phoenix placed second in the conference with a 5-1-4 SoCon Record and 12-2-6 overall record.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY: For the Terriers, this is their first Southern Conference Tournament appearance since 2010 and their first semifinals appearance since 2002. Wofford has an overall record of 5-10-1 in all 11 of the team's tournament appearances. The Terriers appeared in the championship game once in 1997 falling to UNCG 1-0.
The last time the Terriers won a SoCon Tournament match was 2002 when Wofford as the seventh seed defeated eighth seeded Western Carolina 1-0 in the first round. The Terriers would then fall to sixth seeded College of Charleston 2-1.
MATCHUP: Sunday marks the 14th all-time meeting between the Terriers and the Phoenix. Both teams are even in the all-time meetings with the series standing at 5-5-3 overall.
LAST MEETING: Wofford and Elon met earlier this season in Elon, N.C. on October 11, as both teams earned a point in a 1-1 tie. Sophomore forward Mary Beth Bleekrode was the goal scorer for the Terriers.
LAST TIME OUT: In the first round on Sunday, November 3, Wofford faced UNCG and advanced in penalty kicks winning the shootout 5-4 after a 0-0 tie in regulation. Elon came back from a one goal deficit to defeat number seven seed Davidson College 3-1 on Sunday to advance to the semifinals. Southern Conference Player of the Year Nicole Dennion score the game-winning goal and the third goal for Elon.
HEAD COACH AMY KIAH: Amy Kiah is in her 16th season as the Wofford head women's soccer coach. Kiah enters Sunday's match with a career record of 102-144-37.
TEAM OVERVIEW: Wofford has several impact players who have made contributions to Wofford's success so far this season.
Offensively, Wofford is led by sophomore forward and second team All-Conference player Chloe Brackett, who leads the team in goals with six this season. She is followed by junior midfielder Maureen Buff (5) and senior midfielder Alex Kachulis (3).
Defensively, senior defender, 2013 Capital One Academic All-District IV Team selection, and first team All-Conference selection Maggie Bosley has a team-high five assists this season. In goal for the Terriers, senior goalkeeper and second team All-Conference selection Kimberly Cohn has a single-season high nine shutouts this season recording a 0.51 goals against average. Junior Kara Boggs has also seen action this year with four appearances and three starts. Boggs started last match against UNCG recording 15 saves in the match and two saves in the shootout to help the Terriers advance to the semifinals.
WHAT'S AHEAD: With a win, Wofford or Elon would advance to the Southern Conference Tournament final on Sunday, Nov. 10, at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C., to face the winner of the match between the number one seed Furman University and the fourth seed Samford University at 5 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. on ESPN3.
SOUTHERN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: The Southern Conference Women's Soccer Tournament semi-finals and championship match will be held on campus at Snyder Field this Friday and Sunday.
Wofford is hosting this Southern Conference championship event so Friday and Sunday's matches are not "Wofford home games." Below are operational changes all members of our campus community need to be aware of.

ALL Wofford students are admitted FREE with a valid ID! VCOM students will also be admitted free with a valid ID. In fact, all students with a valid ID from any Southern Conference member institution are admitted free.
There are no other complimentary tickets, including Wofford faculty and staff and there are no pass lists.

PARKING
Friday is a busy night on our campus. Patrons for the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Friday are asked to park along Memorial Drive, in the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium parking lot or the Spartanburg County Office Complex across Church Street. The DuPre/Benjamin Johnson Arena parking lot off Evins Street will be unavailable on Friday due to three events happening at the same time in the Campus Life Building and Gibbs Stadium:
- Wofford volleyball vs. Elon (Benjamin Johnson Arena, 7pm)
- Spartanburg High School football vs. Gaffney (Gibbs Stadium, 7:30pm)
- Wofford Mainstage Production of "The Good Women of Setzuan" (Tony White Theatre, 8:00 pm)
USE OF RICHARDSON BUILDING ON FRIDAY
Beginning at 4:00 pm Friday (through 9:30 pm), you must have your Wofford ID with you to pass through the Snyder Field area to access the Richardson Building exercise facility. The Richardson Dance Studio will be unavailable this weekend as it will be needed for Southern Conference Tournament staff. The same rules apply for Sunday, November 10 from Noon to 3:00 pm.
