Box Score (PDF)

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Wofford women’s tennis team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 6-1 victory at Gardner-Webb on Thursday afternoon.  The Runnin’ Bulldogs fall to 1-3 for the year.

In doubles action, Erica White and Jenny Lunde defeated the Wofford pair of Sarah Evans and Othilia Linqvist 8-5 at the No. 1 spot.  The Terrier twosome of Emily Przystawski and Mareli Sanchez topped Yasmin Doost and Rokia Sacko 9-7 at No. 2.  Wofford would win the doubles point due to Gardner-Webb’s lack of healthy players resulting in a win by default for the Terriers at the No. 3 position.

On the singles side, Wofford jumped in front early winning the first set in four of five match-ups.  The Runnin’ Bulldogs cut the lead to one after White earned a straight set victory over Evans at the No. 1 spot.  However, the Terriers would clinch the match after wins by Sanchez and Linqvist at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions respectively.  Andrey Coventry and Julia Paulson also earned wins by default at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots where each had won the first set.

The Terriers return to the court on Sunday, February 24, when they play host to the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville.  The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
