Men’s Tennis Defeats SMC, 7-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis defeated Spartanburg Methodist College, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the John E. Reeves Tennis Center.

The Terriers improve to 3-1 on the season with the win and the Pioneers fall to 0-1 with the loss.

Wofford earned the first point in sweeping the doubles as the top duo of junior Rob Galloway and freshman Haris Poric defeated Harry Reed and Zac Dye, 6-1. No. 2 doubles pair of juniors Jackson Keith and Walker Heffron defeated Alex Arkin and Will Price, 6-0, and No. 3 duo of sophomore David Sklar and freshman Trevor Gotkowski defeated Walter Fowler and Dargan Antley, 6-0.

In singles play, sophomore Parks Thompson earned Wofford's second point defeating Austin Howe in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Clinching the match and scoring the fourth point for the Terriers was the No. 4 player Heffron who won, 6-0, 6-0, against Will Price.

The men's tennis team returns to action on Friday, January 31, when they travel to face the No. 25-ranked Clemson University Tigers at 4:30 p.m. The Terriers return home on Saturday, February 1, as they host College of Charleston at the West Side Club indoor facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
