Women’s Tennis Falls to Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team fell to the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.

The Terriers fall to 4-3 overall with the loss and the Buccaneers improve to 3-3 with the victory.

Charleston Southern swept Wofford in doubles play to take an early 1-0 lead. The Buccaneers clinched the point at the No. 1 doubles position.

In singles play, Charleston Southern was able to take all six singles points. Senior Sarah Evans fought in a close second set to Marketa Placha, but the Buccaneers clinched the match as she lost in a tiebreak, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

The Terriers are back in action on Friday when they host Southeastern Conference opponent University of Missouri at 9 a.m. at the John E. Reeves Tennis Center. Wofford will then open Southern Conference play on Saturday, March 8, when they travel to Western Carolina University to take on the Catamounts at 12 p.m.
