Box Score (.pdf)GREENVILLE, S.C. – Luke Synn clinched the match for Furman at the No. 3 singles position against Walker Heffron as the Wofford men's tennis team dropped its regular season finale against the Paladins, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Mickel Tennis Center.
The Terriers close out the regular season with an overall record of 8-12 and 3-6 in the Southern Conference, while Furman improves to 14-8 overall and 8-1 in the conference with the win.
The Paladins took an early 1-0 lead as they won the doubles point, clinching the point at the No. 2 position. Jacob Behal and Adam Steryous defeated Parks Thompson and Heffron in a tight match, 8-7, to clinch the point. Wofford's No. 3 doubles duo of Jackson Keith and David Sklar won the final doubles match as they defeated Alex Christ and Ben Horst, 8-7.
Following victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches, Synn clinched the match for the Paladins defeating Heffron, 6-3, 6-2, giving them a 4-0 lead. Rob Galloway, Haris Poric and Graham Duncan played in tight matches on their respective courts, but they were unable to cash in a point.
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Terriers will prepare for the Southern Conference tennis championships that begin on Wednesday, April 16 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Wofford's seed in the tournament will be determined once the rest of Southern Conference play comes to a conclusion.
