CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Top-seeded Furman captured the doubles point and picked up three singles wins in the middle of the order as the ninth-seeded Wofford women's tennis team fell to the Paladins, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Southern Conference Women's Tennis Tournament.
The Terriers end the season 6-16 overall and 1-8 in the Southern Conference with the loss. The Paladins improve to 17-5 overall and advance to the semifinals with the win.
Karlee Bryde and Amanda Murray topped Taylor Carlson and Kalli Karas, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles. Furman then clinched the doubles point with an 8-3 win at No. 1 from Alex Moreno-Kaste and Katherine Oudin.
Oudin pushed Furman ahead, 2-0, with a straight-sets win over Wofford's Julia Paulson. After winning the first set, 6-2, Oudin claimed a 6-0 victory in the second set.
Karlee Bryde knocked off Catherine Martin, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 singles to give the Paladins a 3-0 lead before Blair Martin clinched the match with a, 6-1, 6-1, win over Kalli Karas at the No. 5 spot.
