Women’s Golf Helps Build a Home with Habitat for Humanity

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Following the inauguration of Wofford College's 11th president, Dr. Nayef H. Samhat, this past Friday, the Wofford women's golf team volunteered its time to help out those in need.

In conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg, the Terriers headed to a construction site at 197 West Centennial Street to help build a home. For four hours, members of the women's golf team took to work on the floor, spreading floor prep and beginning to lay tiles down at the home.

"Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg had a real treat at this construction site," said volunteer coordinator Carrie Vaughn. "Just hours after the inauguration of Dr. Nayef H. Samhat, student-athletes from Wofford's women's golf team volunteered on the construction site. They did a great job working on the floor of the home, and I want to thank these ladies for all of their hard work."

Women's golf team members who volunteered include seniors Anne Marie Covar and Alex Hendricks, juniors Lauren Dunbar and Elizabeth Thompson, sophomores Maegan Higgins and Emiley Pagrabs, freshmen Katy Funk and Allyson Markiewicz, as well as head coach Angie Ridgeway.

"It always feels good to do something that helps someone in need," Ridgeway said.
