DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team saw its four-game win streak broken on Thursday evening, as the Davidson Wildcats defeated the Terriers, 6-1, at the Knobloch Tennis Center.
 
Freshman Samantha Russell led the way for the Terriers, earning the lone point in the No. 4 position. She earned the singles victory over Jenna Brunner in a three-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4).
 
Other members of the Wofford (4-2) squad came close to earning points for the team. Sophomore Kalli Karas found herself on the wrong end of a three-set match, falling to Sarah Stein, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. Two Terriers took sets to tiebreaks, as Catherine Martin fell to Elaina Cummer, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 at No. 1, while Mareli Sanchez dropped the No. 6 match 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) to Cassidy Shell.
 
The No. 2 and No.4 positions also resulted in Terrier losses, with Anna Feaster defeating Audrey Coventry 6-2, 6-0 and Ava Todd besting Lauren Reid 6-0,6-3, respectively.
 
Davidson (2-1) swept the doubles point, winning each match by a score of 6-2.
 
Wofford looks to bounce back on February 17, when they next faceoff against crosstown foe North Greenville at the Reeves Tennis Center.
