CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's track and field teams began the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday at the 49er Classic. The Terriers set a total of ten school records at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of UNC Charlotte.

In the first event on Friday,
Amber Lust broke the school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.15.
Olivia Head added a school record in the 100 meters at 12.90, topping the mark of 13.37 set in 2013.
LeAndrea Combo set a new mark in the 200 meters at 26.03.
Olivia Head (26.21) and
McLeod Dean (26.34) also had times in the 200 meters that were better than the previous school record in the event.
LeAndrea Combo added a second school record on the day with a time of 57.81 in the 400 meters, breaking a mark that was previously set in 2012.
Alex King threw the women's hammer 41.03 meters to top the previous record by over ten meters. For the men,
Joe Harbacevich ran the 1500 meters in 3:58.38, breaking the school record by four seconds.
Conrad Heinrich was eighth overall in the javelin at 51.86 meters and set a school mark in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.11.

On Saturday, the women's 4x100 meter relay team of
McLeod Dean,
Amber Lust,
Olivia Head and
Alexandra Burgess set a new mark at 48.78, lowering the previous mark of 51.75 set last year. The Terriers had five runners in the women's 3000 meters, led by
Alexandra Forster at 11:13.15.
Alexandra Burgess went 11.09 meters in the triple jump, setting a new school record by a meter.
Alex Michaels set a record with a time of 8:53.78 in the 3,000 meters. He broke the previous record, set in 2010, by ten seconds and finished second overall in the event.
Tevin Johnson added an eighth place finish in the long jump at 6.93 meters, while
Joe Harbacevich was ninth in the 800 meters.

The outdoor season will continue on March 25 and 26 at the Winthrop Invite. The 2016 Terrier Relays will be held on April 2 in Spartanburg.
