BOONE, N.C. – The Wofford College men's tennis team suffered a setback Tuesday afternoon in their non-conference match with the Appalachian State Mountaineers, falling 6-1 at Varsity Courts.

The Terriers (7-9, 1-2 SoCon) earned a victory in one of six singles matches but dropped the doubles point and the other five singles to the Mountaineers (11-4), a former Southern Conference opponent.

Senior
David Sklar earned the lone victory for Wofford at the four position in singles. He dropped his first set to Appalachian State's Jan-Willem Kleynhans but rallied to take the next two sets in a 2-6, 6-1, 10-3 victory. The win is Sklar's tenth singles victory this season.

Wofford dropped the doubles point to begin the match. Senior
Parks Thompson and junior
Haris Poric fell at the one position in a close 7-5 battle with Kleynhans and Scott Webtser of Appalachian State. Sklar and junior
Trevor Gotkowski also lost in doubles at the two position the Mountaineer's Oliver Casey and Jack Maddocks 6-3.

Andrew Graham and freshman
Alan Poric also competed in doubles for the Terriers at the three position, but their match was left unfinished after Appalachian State clinched the doubles point with their first two victories.

Sophomore
Parks Schoen played his opponent Trey Morris close at the six position in singles. Schoen dropped both sets however, as Morris won the match 7-6, 6-4.

Haris Poric at the one position suffered his second straight defeat, falling to Webster 6-2, 6-2 at the one position to move his record to 11-4 this season. His brother
Alan Poric also lost his singles match, losing at the three position to Maddocks 6-1, 6-2.

Freshman
Kyle Barr also competed for Wofford in singles. He was bested by Appalachian State's Zach Bost 6-4, 6-1 at the five position.

Wofford falls to 8-19 all-time against their former SoCon rivals. The Terriers will stay on the road for their next match and return to SoCon play with a match at ETSU Friday at 2:30 p.m.
