BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Wofford College men's tennis team faced a tough test from the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs Tuesday afternoon in their final non-conference tilt of the season, dropping the match 4-0 at Webb Tennis Courts.

The Terriers (7-11, 1-3 SoCon) were able to take one of the doubles matches but ultimately lost the doubles point and the first three singles matches that led to the Runnin' Bulldogs (7-9, 1-3 Big South) to clinch the overall match. Three singles matches were left unfinished with Wofford winning one of the three when play stopped.

Junior
Andrew Graham and freshman
Alan Poric claimed a Wofford 6-3 victory at the third doubles position over Gardner-Webb's Adam Schmidt and Jonathan Walker and improved their season record to 8-6 (8-4 at the three position). Their win tied doubles at 1-1 with senior
David Sklar and junior
Trevor Gotkowski falling 6-1 at the two position first.

Senior
Parks Thompson and junior
Haris Poric represented Wofford at the one doubles position and played Maximillian Scholl and Nikita Zverkov of Gardner-Webb tough. The duo fell in the match 6-3 though to give Gardner-Webb the doubles point.

In singles,
Alan Poric took his opponent Benjamin Kaszas at the four position to a decisive third-set tiebreaker. Poric took the first set 6-1 but then fell in a close 7-5 second set. Kaszas then won the third set as well 6-1 to take the match.

Haris Poric and Thompson both suffered defeat as well in singles at the one and two position, respectively. Both dropped their first set in 7-5 affairs, with Poric losing his second set to Scholl 6-4 and Thompson dropping his second set to Zverkov 6-2.

Three singles matches were stopped once Gardner-Webb clinched the necessary margin for the overall match victory. Freshman
Kyle Barr at the five position had a lead in his match against Schmidt, taking the first set 6-3, falling in the second 3-6 and then jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the third set when play was ended.

Sklar at the three position was taken to a third set as well against Yaroslav Prostakov. Sklar claimed victory in the first set 6-3, but was edged 6-7 in the second and was down 1-0 in the third-set tiebreaker.

Sophomore
Parks Schoen rounded out the field for Wofford at the six position. He was down 6-3, 5-4 in his match against Walker at the stop of play.

Wofford moves to 10-5 against Gardner-Webb in the Division I era (since 1995). The Terriers play again at home for their next match, returning to Southern Conference play with a match against the UNCG Spartans Saturday at noon at Reeves Tennis Center.
