HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed on Friday afternoon at the High Point VertCross Invitational. In the final race of the regular season,
Hannah Steelman won the individual title for the women. Overall the Terriers finished fifth in the women's race and twelfth in the men's competition.

The women's 6k started the competition. Freshman
Hannah Steelman won her third individual championship of the season with a time of 21:02.54, thirty seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Her time is a new Wofford record in the 6K, eclipsing the previous mark of 22:34.50 set in 2010 by Andrea Kelsey.
Taryn Schoen was 30
th overall at 22:58.50, followed by
Mary Stewart Wilson (23:03.51),
Anya Bunao (23:17.38), and
Shannon McAndrew (23:47.03). Also competing were
Whitley Elsass,
Rebeka Fadgyas, and
Anastasia Burroughs.

The men's 8K competition followed and
Cisco Ferre was the top finisher for the Terriers with a time of 26:15.51 for 36
th place overall. He was followed by
Jack Zemp (26:35.02),
Walker Gibbs (27:39.87),
Ford McCoy (27:45.92) and
Ben Hensley (27:51.27).
Ethan Epstein,
Ben Boatwright, and
Will Stutts also ran for the Terriers.

High Point (62) won the women's race, followed by Appalachian State (68), East Tennessee State (73), Furman (83) and Wofford (129) in the field of 16 teams. Furman (56) took first place in the men's race, with Wofford (299) finishing 12
th overall in the field of 17 teams.

Wofford will the host the Southern Conference Championships on Saturday, October 28 at Milliken Park.
