Charlotte, N.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team competed at the UNC Charlotte Classic over the weekend. The field was made up of 12 teams including Duke, Gardner-Webb, UNC Charlotte, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Richmond, Davidson, UNCG, North Carolina, Winthrop, N.C. A&T and Wofford. The ten Terriers that competed over the weekend were Lucas Cerbelli, Edu Villar, Parks Schoen, Kyle Barr, Peter Coombs, John Crawford, Julian Chousa, Omar Williams, Diego Losada and Jack Thomas.

"This is by far the best we've played all fall. A new level of determination was grasped and the result is that we have a much stronger team identity," Said head coach
Rod Ray. "We had an absolute ball competing as hard as we could for three days. I can't wait until our next tournament."
Overall Wofford won 22 of 32 singles matches over the weekend. Lucas Cerbelli went 1-3 in the A2 Singles Flight while Jack Thomas went undefeated in the C1 Singles Flight winning three matches. Edu Villar went 3-1 and lost in the finals match of the B2 Singles Flight while Omar Williams went 3-1 in the B2 Singles Flight. Diego Losada and Julian Chousa both went 2-2 over the weekend in the B2 Singles Flight. Kyle Barr won his first three matches in the B1 Singles Flight and Parks Schoen battled back to a 3-1 record after losing early in the rounds. John Crawford went 1-1 in his matches in the B1 Singles Flight while Peter Coombs went 2-1 in the B1 Singles Flight.
Wofford won seven of 15 doubles matches on the weekend and the combination of Julian Chousa and Omar Williams went 2-1 while John Crawford and Parks Schoen won two matches in the round robin doubles flight.

Wofford will continue end the fall portion of the schedule this weekend when the Terriers travel to Winston Salem to compete in the Wake Forest Tournament.
