Ridgeway Adds Four to Women's Golf Program

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team has added four in the 2017 signing class, as announced by head coach Angie Ridgeway on Monday. Hallie "Speedy" Kent, Alli West, Becca Earl and Emma King will join the Terriers for the 2018-19 season.  

"Our 2018 signees bring talent and class to the Terrier community, and I'm excited to welcome them for the 2018-19 season," said Ridgeway. "These four young ladies are accomplished junior golfers and have what it takes to achieve success in college golf.  I look forward to helping them develop as Wofford student-athletes."   

Hallie Kent
Hallie Kent is from Mequon, Wisconsin. The senior played golf for four seasons at Homestead High School. Homestead won the conference championship all four years and were the sectional champions in her freshman and junior seasons. The team finished fourth in the state in 2014, fifth in 2015 and fourth again in 2016, Kent's junior season.

Individually, Kent was named First-Team All-Conference in 2014, 2016 and 2017 and First-Team All-State in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She was Second-Team All-State in 2014 and the Conference Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017. She finished runner-up at the 2017 Women's Western Junior Golf Championship, won the 2017 Blackwolf Run Invitational, was the WIAA Regional Individual champion in 2015 and 2016, the WIAA Sectional Individual champion in 2016 and 2017, won the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island in 2016 and won the 2017 Yahara Invite with a round of 71. She tied for 10th in the Wisconsin Women's State Open in 2017. She qualified for the IMG Junior World Championship five times and broke the record for most Wisconsin Cup team appearances (6).

Off the course, Kent is a three-year member of the high honor roll. She is a member of her high school symphony orchestra, makes crafts for hospital patients, and volunteers teaching junior golfers at a local driving range. She is Vice-President of Interact Club and a member of the National Honor Society.

Alli West
Alli West is from Calabasas, California. West, a senior at Oaks Christian School, was named First Team All-Conference twice. She played three years on the Toyota Tour Cup, an invitation only tour, and recorded two top-10 finishes. She won three Ventura County Junior Golf Association events.

West has been a member of the Dean's & Headmasters list for four years and finished in the top 10% on the national Latin exam. She is also a Lion's Voice Ambassador and also volunteers with First Tee.

Becca Earl
Becca Earl is a native of Essex, England. In 2017, she was the Hertfordshire Girls U18 Champion, the Hertfordshire County Women's Champion, and tied for 19th in the Scottish U18 Girls Championship. With the Bishops Stortford women's team, Earl helped the team to a league championship three times. The team has also been the Hertfordshire foursome champions three years running. In 2016, she represented England in the home international vs. Scottish schools and won both of her matches. She finished top 30 in both the Irish Ladies stroke play championship and the Irish Girls U18 championship.

In 2015, Earl was the Hertfordshire Girls County Champion, won two WPGA one day series events, and won the Woburn Golf Club Prince of Wales trophy. She won the Essex school championship and the East Region Women's championship in 2015 as well.

Emma King
Emma King is from Atlanta, Georgia. In 2017, King was named All-State after having an undefeated high school season. Her team finished first in the region and King was the second-low medalist. Holy Innocents' Episcopal School finished fourth in the state. King finished third in the Achasta Junior and third in the Berkeley Hill Classic. She was the low medalist in the Phillip P. Silverman tournament.

In 2016, King's team finished third in the state and individually, King was a state finals qualifier. She was the HIES MVP, Capital City Club Junior Player of the Year, Capital City Club Championship winner, and the Andrew P. Stewart Center Tournament low medalist. In 2016, King qualified for state as X finished second in the region. She was the HIES Rookie of the Year and the Capital City Club Junior Player of the Year.
