Winston Salem, N.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team competed at Wake Forest over the weekend. Wofford was one of 19 different teams to compete including Tennessee Tech, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Davidson, Campbell, Duke, North Carolina, Liberty, Mercer, N.C. State, East Carolina, James Madison, Indiana, Charlotte, UNCG, UNC Asheville, Gardner-Webb and Radford. The five Terriers who competed over the weekend were Parks Schoen, Edu Villar, Lucas Cerbelli, Omar Williams, Kyle Barr and Julian Chousa.
"I'm thrilled with the work we did this weekend," Said head coach
Rod Ray. "Winning five of six singles matches on day two to be followed with winning four of six on day three is a testimony to the progress our program has made this fall. Our culture and work ethic is excellent."
Overall, Wofford won 15 of 22 singles matches throughout the weekend. Parks Schoen and Edu Villar competed in the B1 Singles flight. Both players went 2-2 on the weekend while Villar finished 6
th and Schoen finished 7
th. Lucas Cerbelli represented the Terriers in the B2 Singles Flight and went 2-2 finishing in 6
th place. Omar Williams competed in the C1 Singles flight and won three matches on the weekend including the championship match for the C1 flight. Kyle Barr and Julian Chousa represented Wofford in the C2 Singles flight. Chousa went 3-1 and went on to finish in 5
th place while Kyle Barr went 3-0 and won the championship match of the flight.
In doubles matches, Wofford won four matches as the combination of Omar Williams and Julian Chousa went 3-0 in the B3 Doubles flight. Kyle Barr and Parks Schoen competed in the B1 Doubles flight winning one match on the way to finishing 7
th in the B1 Doubles flight.
Wofford ends the fall schedule after competing at four different tournaments. The Terriers will resume play later in the winter when the championship season begins.
