Men's Tennis Sweeps Two Matches at Home

Box Score 1 SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team won two matches over King University and Emmanuel College at Reeves Tennis Center. With the pair of victories, Wofford moves to 4-1 on the young season.
 
"Today was another really great day. The guys worked as a team to persevere and play liked we needed to," said head coach Rod Ray. "Just a really terrific performance especially from Lucas and Julian who competed in two singles matches and two doubles matches today. Overall I'm super impressed with the effort from our team today."
 
The Terriers got off to a good start by sweeping the doubles matches to clinch the team point. The combinations of John Crawford/Julian Chousa, Jack Thomas/Lucas Cerbelli & Omar Williams/Javi Casasolas all picked up wins en route to the team point. Williams and Casasolas kicked off the day with a convincing 6-1 from the #3 spot.
 
Wofford continued the strong play in the singles matches, again sweeping the matches en route to a 7-0 victory. The Terriers lineup for singles was as followed: #1 Lucas Cerbelli, #2 Julian Chousa, #3 Edu Villar, #4 Parks Schoen, #5 Kyle Barr & #6 Diego Losada. Parks Schoen secured the first point for the Terriers with a 6-1, 6-0 win from #4 spot and Kyle Barr followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 win from the #5 postion. Edu Villar clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win from the #3 position.
 
The Terriers opened the afternoon matches with another clean sweep in the doubles competition. The combination of John Crawford/Julian Chousa, Jack Thomas/Lucas Cerbelli & Parks Schoen/Kyle Barr all picked up wins to secure the team point while dropping just four games combined.
 
The strong play continued for Wofford in the singles matches as the Terriers. The Terriers lineup for singles was as followed: #1 Lucas Cerbelli, #2 Julian Chousa, #3 Edu Villar, #4 Javi Casasolas, #5 Omar Williams & #6 Peter Coombs. Omar Williams and Javi Casasolas secured the first two points from the singles matches while Edu Villar came up with another match clinching point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory from the #3 position.
 
Wofford will return to the court on Saturday, February 10 when the Terriers travel to Rock Hill to face off against Winthrop at 12 PM.
