SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Despite many summer wooden bat leagues not competing this year, eleven Wofford baseball players were still able to see action. Highlights included incoming freshman Daniel Hirose and junior college transfer Zeb Roos earning MVP honors in their respective leagues.
In the Arizona Collegiate League,
Matty Brown,
Brennen Dorighi and
Clay Schwaner saw action. Brown batted .324 and Dorighi had a .358 average with nine extra base hits. Zeb Roos batted .474 in the Palm Springs Collegiate League with five home runs.
Trey Yunger (Traverse City) and Ryan Guardino (Waterloo) played in the Northwoods League. Yunger batted .300 and Guardino was at .308 for the summer.
Luke Stephens played for Mocksville in the Old North State League with a 1.13 ERA and two saves.
Daniel Hirose started at shortstop for the Redmond Dudes in the Pacific International League, while
Josh Vitus pitched for the Portland Pickles in the Wild Wild West League. Gunnar Johnson played in the Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League, while
O'Kelly McWilliams had a 2.04 ERA and three wins for the Rough Riders in the Northern Virginia Collegiate League.
With the summer season completed, the Wofford baseball coaching staff selected the following awards:
