SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's
Omar Williams has been named the Southern Conference men's tennis player of the week for all matches played April 12-18, the conference office announced Monday. The weekly award, the second for Williams this season, is the final one of the 2021 campaign.
Williams went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-1 at No. 2 doubles on the week as Wofford beat Coastal Carolina 4-3 on Tuesday and fell 4-3 to Furman two days later.
In singles play, the native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, beat Coastal Carolina's Diego Giraldo 6-2, 6-7, 6-0 and earned another three-set victory against Furman's Ivan Mitric (6-4, 6-7, 6-2).
In doubles, Williams and his partner
Alex Horn fell 3-6 to Coastal Carolina's duo but rebounded to beat Furman's pair 6-4.
Wofford concluded the season with a 7-10 overall record and 2-5 mark in SoCon play.
