Jones Sets School Record as Low Medalist at Golfweek Fall Challenge

Sophomore Harry Jones finished 17-under as an individual

Jones recorded 18 birdies for the tournament.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Despite performing as an individual, sophomore Harry Jones (-17) opened the 2021 Wofford men's golf fall slate on a high note in Myrtle Beach, S.C., finishing as the Golfweek Fall Challenge's low medalist with a school record 17-under performance on Tuesday afternoon to highlight Wofford's presence at the True Blue Golf Club.

The performance tops Wofford's previous school record, set by Andrew Novak '17 – who just recently earned his PGA Tour card – with a 13-under performance at the Wexford Intercollegiate on Feb. 23, 2016.

Jones, a native of Augusta, Ga., led the tournament with 18 birdies, suffering only two bogeys over the tournament's three-day span, while also matching the program's second-best round performance with a 7-under-par 65 in Sunday's first round. Jones continued with an impressive 4-under-par 68, that saw an eagle and four birdies, prior to blazing seven birdies for a 6-under-par 66 to finish with Wofford's new low-54-round score of 199.

Wofford (+1) finished tied for 10th, out of 18 teams, with Cal Baptist for a total score of 865, as Delaware (-30) edged out Mercer (-29) to claim the tournament's crown.

The Terriers scored wins over Gardner-Webb (+3), USC Upstate (+4), St. Thoman-MN (+13), Stephen F. Austin (+14), Presbyterian (+22), Evansville (+41) and La Salle (+41).

Junior Jackson Hill (-1) finished tied for 26th, while freshman Daniel Brasington (E) finished tied for 35th in his first collegiate tournament. Hill turned in a career-best performance, as he finished even in Sunday's first round prior to recording a 74 in the second. He then finished a strong back-nine in Tuesday's final round, with three birdies, to record a career-low-round 3-under-par 69 for a career-low total of 215.  Brasington also was solid over the tournament's duration, opening with an even-par 72 before recording a 73 in Monday's second round. The Spartanburg, S.C. native then rallied for a 3-under back-nine performance to finish 1-under on the day with a total score of 216.

Junior Bailey Means (+4) finished tied for 48th with a career-low score of 220, while sophomore Cedric Otten (+5) finished tied for 53rd with a score of 221 in his Wofford debut. Otten led the tournament field in pars overall with 40 over the tournament's span.

Sophomore John Fahey (+7) rounds out the Terriers competing, finishing tied for 59th with a score of 223.

Wofford returns to competition on Sept. 27-28 when the Terriers compete in the JT Poston Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina University, in Sapphire, N.C.
