SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The NCAA has released the latest Graduation Success Rate for all Division I institutions. Wofford had nine of 14 teams post a score of 100, the highest score available. The overall GSR for Wofford was a 96, which ranked second in the Southern Conference and first in the state of South Carolina.
 
Wofford teams that had a score of 100 included baseball, men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's soccer, women's tennis, women's cross country/track, volleyball and rifle.
 
Among Southern Conference institutions, Samford had an overall GSR of 98, followed by Wofford at 96 and Furman at 94. Samford had 12 teams earn a score of 100, followed by Chattanooga with ten, Furman with nine and Wofford with nine.
 
In addition to the nine Terrier teams with a score of 100 that were first or tied for first in the Southern Conference, football had a score of 94 to also tie for first. Men's tennis was at 71, men's cross country/track at 90, men's soccer at 96 and women's basketball at 92.

Among the twelve NCAA Division I schools in South Carolina. Wofford led the group at 96, followed by Clemson at 95 and Furman and South Carolina at 94.

The single-year GSR for student-athletes who began college in 2015 is 90 percent, the highest rate ever for the NCAA.
 
 
ABOUT THE GSR
The Graduation Success Rate was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately measure the success of Division I student-athletes. 

• The GSR takes into account the many different academic paths followed by today's college students.
• Unlike the federal graduation rate, the GSR holds institutions accountable for transfer students. The GSR also accounts for midyear enrollees and is calculated for every sport.
• By counting incoming transfer students and midyear enrollees, the GSR increases the total number of student-athletes tracked for graduation.
• Under the GSR calculation, institutions are not penalized for outgoing transfer students who leave in good academic standing.  These outgoing transfers are essentially passed to the receiving institution's GSR cohort. 
• The NCAA also calculates the federal graduation rate for student-athletes, because it is the only rate to compare student-athletes to the general student body.
• This year marks the 20th year of GSR data that have been collected. The NCAA began collecting GSR data with the entering freshman class of 1995. The latest entering class for which data are available is 2015.
