Wofford Names AFL Student-Athlete Leaders of the Month For May

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College and AFL have announced the Student-Athlete Leaders of the Month for May. The month's honorees are Margaret Axelson from the softball team and Niki Brini from the baseball team.    
 
Axelson, a junior pitcher from Atlanta, Georgia, earned All-Southern Conference first team honors. She finished the 2025 season with the first sub- 2.00 ERA in program history with a 1.99 ERA in 151 innings pitched and a 14-9 record. A biology major, she was named to the CSC Academic All-District team.   
 
Brini, a junior outfielder from Plymouth, Massachusetts, posted a .304 batting average on the season. He had 51 hits, including a league-high six triples and five home runs. He also led the team with 26 stolen bases, which ranked fourth in the Southern Conference. He is majoring in business economics and has been named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
