SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The NCAA has released the most recent Graduation Success Rate for all Division I institutions.Wofford had nine of 15 teams post a score of 100, the highest score available. The overall GSR for Wofford was 94, which was down slightly from the last report.
 
Wofford teams that scored 100 included men's golf, men's cross country/track, women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's tennis, women's cross country/track, volleyball, and rifle.
 
Among Southern Conference institutions, Samford had an overall GSR of 98, followed by Furman at 96, UNC Greensboro at 95, and Wofford and Mercer at 94. Samford had 12 teams earn a score of 100, followed by Furman and Wofford with nine each. In addition to the nine Terrier teams with a score of 100 that were first or tied for first in the Southern Conference, football had a score of 92 to also tie for first.
 
Other sports and their scores included baseball at 93, men's tennis at 88, men's basketball at 91, men's soccer at 89, and women's basketball at 82. Women's lacrosse was included in the GSR for the first time this year, while softball will not have a GSR until the 2022 cohort.  
 
Among the twelve NCAA Division I schools in the state of South Carolina, Clemson and Furman led the group with a 96, followed by Wofford and the University of South Carolina at 94.   
 
ABOUT THE GSR
The Graduation Success Rate was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately measure the success of Division I student-athletes. 

• The GSR takes into account the many different academic paths followed by today's college students.
• Unlike the federal graduation rate, the GSR holds institutions accountable for transfer students. The GSR also accounts for midyear enrollees and is calculated for every sport.
• By counting incoming transfer students and midyear enrollees, the GSR increases the total number of student-athletes tracked for graduation.
• Under the GSR calculation, institutions are not penalized for outgoing transfer students who leave in good academic standing.  These outgoing transfers are essentially passed to the receiving institution's GSR cohort. 
• The NCAA also calculates the federal graduation rate for student-athletes, because it is the only rate to compare student-athletes to the general student body.
• This year marks the 22^nd year of GSR data that have been collected. The NCAA began collecting GSR data with the entering freshman class of 1995. The latest entering class for which data is available is 2017.
